And the answer to this question turns out to be: quantum mechanics. The weird world of quantum mechanics includes innumerable counterintuitive phenomena. It is quantum mechanics that adds up to normality. This is the world of quantum mechanics, and it is %^$&#*@ weird. So what is quantum mechanics, besides weird? The Quantum Workshops mission statement is: Why isn't the world more weird? On a macroscopic scale the universe appears very rational, and yet on closer inspection things are not quite what they seem. I've recently been immersing myself in the weird and wacky world of quantum mechanics and I think it's about due time I shared some of things that I've learnt. On the face of things, quantum mechanics and the biological sciences do not mix.
